Positive Behavioural Support
What is Positive Behavioural Support
Positive Behaviour Support is a research-based framework for understanding and addressing challenging behaviour. It is based on the principles of applied behaviour analysis and emphasises the importance of understanding the function or purpose of the behaviour in order to develop effective interventions.
Myxa Care’s Positive Behaviour Support service provides specialised therapeutic support for people who have behaviours of concern.
Our team will work with you, getting to know you and your challenges to create individual, responsive strategies to reduce or eliminate the need for restrictive practices.
PBS professionals work closely with individuals, their families, and support networks to understand the reasons behind challenging behaviours and develop proactive, positive interventions. By focusing on strengths, and preferences, and empowering the individual, PBS seeks to reduce challenging behaviours, promote social and emotional well-being, and enhance overall life satisfaction. These services foster a supportive environment that encourages skill development, independence, and a sense of belonging in the community.
Positive Behavioural Support is a key component of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia. Under the NDIS, individuals with disabilities can access PBS services to address challenging behaviours and improve their overall quality of life

Reducing the use of restrictive practices.
Creating a plan with all your therapists and support workers.

Working with you to create strategies.
Addressing any health issues which may be impacting behaviour.
